TRU Tips

Real ransomware is generally not in an email. If you get a ransomware email, it's likely just a phishing expedition spam email trying to scare you into sending payment.

Top 3 Things To Do If You Get A Ransomware Email
  • Use another computer and Google all the text you see; likely others will have already reported it and you will be able to learn more about the reality of the threat.
  • Transfer all docs and pics to a blank thumb drive.
  • Run an anti-virus scan. Don't panic and don't pay!
