Corporate legal departments have often relied on outside counsel to help navigate an increasingly complicated landscape of global privacy laws. But as updates like California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 continue to roll in, companies may find it more cost effective to engage the services of contract workers or even long-term hires. Legaltech News reporter Frank Ready asked TRU's Jared Coseglia for his input.
“Do you really need a six-year associate from an Am Law top 50 doing your policy revisions? Some people say absolutely. Some people say ‘I’ll bring in a contract worker,'” [Coseglia] said.
“[Privacy's] value is beginning to supersede just compliance. It’s beginning to now effect the brand and as that evolves, that’s the business that you want to be in if you want to have a major career,” he said.
