GCs Looking for Jobs Post-Pandemic Should Flex Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Muscles

The COVID-19 pandemic has equipped corporate attorneys with a brand new set of skills and experiences but has also fundamentally changed what legal departments may be looking for from a new hire. In order to stand out from a stack of resumes, attorneys may have to redefine their value as a leader and corporate asset. Writer Frank Ready sought out TRU's Jared Coseglia for his advice to attorneys seeking new employment in a post-pandemic job market.

""[Employers] are already asking these questions. I mean on our C-level or GC-level searches through corporate legal departments, one of the very first questions is, ‘Were you involved with a COVID-19 task force and what was your contribution?’” said Jared Coseglia, founder and CEO of TRU Staffing Partners Inc.

"Coseglia at TRU Staffing Partners indicated that the pandemic has heightened the risk organizations face with regard to data privacy, particularly around employee health information.

“'Privacy is a gateway to data strategy and being able to advise the C-level or the board about the balance between legal risk and business opportunity when it comes to their employee data and their customer data is absolutely a niche that will enable future GCs to be more valuable and more compensated than their counterparts,' he said."
