AVP, Privacy Counsel (CORPORATION)

Our client, one of the country’s largest financial services companies, is looking for an AVP, Privacy Counsel to join their growing team. The AVP, Privacy Counsel will support the Privacy Office's function of maintaining and maturing the organization's privacy program to include the support of program framework, standards, and policies. This role will provide continued development and maintenance of a comprehensive privacy program which minimizes risk and maintains the confidentiality of personal information of consumers and employees and other applicable company data. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian Privacy laws, with a focus on financial institution data, applicable global privacy laws as well as knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure, and operations. Excellent communication skills, strong work ethic and analytical ability along with a proficiency in information technology, cybersecurity, and related privacy issues are a must. JOB DUTIES:
  • Provides continued organization and coordination of organizational privacy processes and efforts (U.S. and global)
  • Provides continued development and maintenance of a comprehensive privacy program which minimizes risk and maintains the confidentiality of personal information of consumers and employees and other applicable company data
  • Works collaboratively with Cybersecurity to ensure continuous alignment between Cybersecurity and privacy compliance programs (including policies, practices and programs)
  • Works collaboratively with Cybersecurity, Compliance, IT, Purchasing and other business functions to embed privacy related requirements within new and existing processes, projects and teams
  • Process and decision Initial Assessments submitted through the Privacy portal
  • Works collaboratively with various business units at all levels of the organization on privacy matters
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of privacy laws and events
  • Assists in developing and/or maintaining privacy related policies, procedures, awareness and training
  • Ensures privacy requirements are properly captured and maintained within business systems
  • Assists in managing customer privacy notice revisions and processes
  • Creates and maintains various reporting
  • Provides support for implementation of new privacy laws and requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Conforms with all company policies and procedures

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
  • Senior Vice President Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • U.S. Privacy laws, with focus on financial institution data
  • Applicable global privacy laws
  • Knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure and operations preferable
SKILLS:
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to relate well with others, build relationships and constructively interact with a variety of people and situations
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications software
  • Ability to use appropriate analysis, judgment and logic when solving problems and making decisions
  • Conversant in information technology and related privacy issues
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s Degree required
Experience:
  • Some years of relevant experience required
