About the Role:
  • In this role as a Counsel for Privacy and Compliance you will provide legal support to our business on a variety of complex matters related to global data privacy and legal and regulatory compliance for automotive and consumer technologies.
  • This position will report to the Director, Global Privacy and Compliance and has no direct reports

Job Responsibilities:
  • Reviews business activities that collect, use, disclose, or dispose of data for compliance with law, policy, and best practices
  • Drafts consumer notices, inter-company agreements and contract terms
  • Manages outside counsel in connection with certain work
  • Negotiates data-related contract provisions
  • Develops and implements standardized policies, tools, and processes to improve and enhance privacy and compliance practices
  • Collaborates closely with Digital team on cybersecurity issues
  • Supports insurance claims management on cybersecurity issues
  • Develops and maintains expertise in global laws regarding data privacy and protection
  • Develops and delivers training on data privacy issues across business
  • Works on cutting privacy and data issues arising from software and hardware technologies
  • Counsels’ product teams on development of products for automotive and consumer technologies
  • Juris Doctor from accredited Law school with some years of related experience, ideally in a combination of law firm and corporate settings
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan and a member of the Michigan State Bar in good standing or in the state that you reside in
  • Solid experience independently drafting, negotiating, and interpreting commercial contracts
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to liaise with all areas of the business
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to shifting priorities
  • Experience in a Global Matrixed organization with exceptional ability to communicate at all levels
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multiple language skills
