Are you interested in managing the data analytics initiatives within a global law firm? Our client is seeking an individual interested in playing a pivotal role in building and operationalizing the data necessary for the enterprise data and analytics initiatives. The Data and Analytics Engineer will be building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines and moving the data pipelines into production for key consumers like business/data analysts, data scientists, or anyone that needs curated data across the enterprise. This role will require both creative and collaborative work with IT and the wider business, evangelizing effective data management practices and promoting better understanding of data and analytics. The Data Engineer will guarantee compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving, and operationalizing integrated and reusable data pipelines.   • Manage data pipelines, consist of a series of stages through which data flows. These data pipelines must be created, maintained and optimized as workloads move from development to production for specific use cases
  • Utilize tools, techniques and architectures to automate the most-common, repeatable and tedious data preparation and integration tasks partially or completely to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity
  • The data engineer will also need to assist with renovating the data management infrastructure to drive automation in data integration and management
  • Proposes appropriate (and innovative) data ingestion, preparation, integration and operationalization techniques in optimally addressing data requirements
  • Train counterparts in these data pipelining and preparation techniques
  • Ensures that the data users and consumers use the data provisioned to them responsibly through data governance and compliance initiatives
  • Works with data governance teams and participates in vetting and promoting content created in the business and by data scientists to the curated data catalog for governed reuse
  • Promotes the available data and analytics capabilities and expertise to business unit leaders and educates them in leveraging these capabilities in achieving their business goals
  • Successful candidates must have significant work experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks
  • Prior experience working in Azure platform and Azure based Data Lakehouse implementations is required
  • Candidates must have experience with popular database programming languages, including SQL, PL/SQL and others for relational databases
  • At least three years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiative is required for this role
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science or a related quantitative field is required
  • The ideal candidate will have a combination of IT, data governance and analytics skills
