Our client, a household name and consumer products brand with a global footprint, is seeking to add an Associate Data Privacy Manager to its growing Chicago-based team. The successful candidate will have experience supporting a global privacy program. This role will monitor any changes in privacy laws and will have a heavily operational component. Candidates with experience as a privacy analyst are encouraged to apply! Experience with global regulations including GDPR and CCPA as well as handling PII is essential. This is a high growth role and applicants should have a passionate personality and the desire to make a big impact on an even bigger company. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support Global Data Privacy Manager in developing, maintaining, and documenting the organizations global Privacy framework
  • Be aware of and monitor the organizations obligations under applicable Privacy Laws; keep leaders informed and act to ensure the Company’s compliance which such laws
  • Over time will support the development, assessment and implementation of effective monitoring, testing, reporting, auditing and sampling protocols, controls and channels for timely detection of relevant privacy issues
  • Support team lead in responding to privacy inquiries and information requests received from consumers, customers, vendors, and other data subjects, as well as routine inquiries from global regulatory agencies and supervisory authorities. Support Company efforts in responding to any regulatory investigations, compliance challenges, or privacy-related litigation
  • Partnering with team lead and legal function, develop, assess, and implement clear, effective privacy remediation/corrective action initiatives, protocols and controls to ensure appropriate privacy compliance
  • Advise on proper documentation for the organizations privacy data and processing activities using OneTrust
  • Track Privacy Law changes and developments in relevant jurisdictions. Coordinate with Legal Services Group and IT to provide constituents with effective updates and recommendations regarding Privacy Law changes and potential impacts
  • Develop practical solutions, tools, and support to ensure privacy accountability and compliance

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Global Privacy Laws, best practices/ industry standards, including US state and federal regulations and GDPR; the role technology plays between privacy and cybersecurity; supporting multi-functional client teams, including commercial and business development, product, technology, procurement, finance, and risk & security
  • Ability to handle high volume, fast-paced environment, prioritizing competing deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; responsiveness and accessibility to internal clients
  • Innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives/objectives
  • Leadership skills, and ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside counsel
  • Professionalism, discretion and outstanding business judgment, ethics and integrity
  • Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
EDUCATION:
  • Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree required; relevant graduate degree (e.g., JD or Master’s) preferred.

  • PII experience in a global, consumer-oriented or highly regulated industry, with specific work within Legal, Human Resources or Information Technology or a related function
