The Director, Forensics and Data Collections, will work as a member of the Forensics and Data Collections team within the Legal Solutions business group. The Director will conduct data collections and computer forensic analysis, as well as undertake critical client-facing aspects of computer forensics and electronic discovery such as scoping data collection and analysis work, affidavit and report writing, working with customers, sales personnel, project managers and other personnel, and testifying. This role requires advanced capabilities in providing computer forensics services. Directors in this group must display an expert level ability to proactively provide documentation of experiences to promote learning and should possess expert level knowledge and experience in preparing affidavits and providing depositions and/or court testimony. Position Description    

In this role, the Director will conduct data collections and computer forensic analysis, as well as undertake critical client facing aspects of computer forensics and electronic discovery such as scoping data collection and analysis work, affidavit and report writing, working with customers, sales personnel, project managers and other personnel, testifying, etc. This role requires advanced capabilities in providing computer forensics services. The Director will set strategic goals and direction, as well as lead individuals and/or teams from the beginning of a forensic analysis project through to its successful conclusion.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Communicates in an intelligent, positive, readily understood manner while clearly explaining technical information so that it is understood by clients and colleagues
  • Consults with clients, their counsel and other key constituents to uncover all necessary information to develop solutions to their issues; balances speed and cost while maintaining the highest quality of service and customer satisfaction in proposing and delivering those solutions
  • Conducts expert level and detailed discussions, with complicated or common scenarios, with any potential or existing client in a clear, confident, positive manner
  • Understands, explains, and follows accepted forensic protocols, processes and procedures used internally to find and provide relevant, requested output to meet client objectives
  • Determines best practices and apply that knowledge at an expert level to assist with the testing of tools with the overall goals being to analyze media, recover deleted data, create reports, and meet customer objectives as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • Assists Sales, Client Services and Consultants with answering client questions about technology, terminology, data relevancy, reports and the accessing of data that they possess or that has been provided to them through analysis and reporting
  • Effectively handles requests from more junior associates concerning analytical process, strategy, facts and circumstances
  • Provides guidance for best practices and the most desirable courses of action given certain facts and circumstances
  • Acts as an escalation point for client concerns and issues, and work with the client and internal forensic/collection consultants to develop an action plan to alleviate client concern and mitigate frustration; makes decisions as appropriate and further escalate when necessary
Qualifications
  • Significant relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with laptops, desktops, etc.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with forensic analysis of systems, including Windows, Mac and mobile device-based analysis
  • Excellent understanding of Network Architectures
  • Extensive experience with third-party forensic tools/software
  • Extensive experience with e-mail based systems, both online (Office 365, Gmail, Yahoo!,
  • Hotmail, etc.) and Corporate (Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with different enterprise class systems such as email archiving systems, data vaults, document management systems, etc.
  • Extensive experience with best practices on mobile device collection
  • Significant experience with social media collection
  • Must be able to visually verify and decipher ASCII, binary and hexadecimal data and file system structures
  • Civil or Criminal investigations background, or substantial forensic analysis as a substitute
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent Report/Declaration/Affidavit drafting skills
  • Substantial testifying experience by deposition, hearing or trial
Desired Skills
  • Experience with backup tape technology
  • Experience with non-standard or legacy email/data sources (GroupWise, Eudora, etc.)
  • Business Travel Requirements: Business travel is required at times to conduct onsite data collections, depositions, testimony preparation and appearances in court. Travel is typically between 40% and 50% for this position, though it could be more depending on client requirements. Onsite data collections can be conducted at any hour of the day to minimize disruption to the client’s business operations. Some data collections may span multiple days
