Privacy Analyst (Corporation)

Our client, a major financial institution, is seeking a Privacy Analyst in either its Phoenix, Arizona or Santa Clara, California office. This role will assist in the identification, implementation and maintenance of information privacy practices, standards and procedures. Candidates should have strong experience operationalizing data privacy and must have experience conducting and documenting privacy impact assessments (PIA) and data subject access requests (DSAR), including identifying how personal data is processed, appropriate privacy requirements and any associated privacy risks. Knowledge of relevant privacy laws and regulations on the international and national levels, such as GDPR and CCPA is also essential. CIPP, CIPM, CIPT or other relevant certifications offered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) preferred. PRIMARY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Conducts and documents privacy impact assessments including identifying how personal data is processed, identifying appropriate privacy requirements and identifies any associated privacy risks
  • Assists in the identification, implementation and maintenance of the information privacy practices, standards and procedures
  • Leads privacy incident management activities across the corporation for incidents involving personal data
  • Documents and validates business process which rely on consent to process personal data
  • Documents and validates the documentation of business process which process personal data to have a complete and accurate information related to the systems, personal information and third parties
  • Provides support and research to projects involving data privacy, incident management and data subject requests
  • Assists in the review & update significant revisions to standards and procedures to define privacy controls across the company
  • Reviews and analyze client written materials, such as policies, procedures, business processes and governance artifacts
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience and previous privacy operations responsibilities such as conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, managing privacy incidents and/or responding to privacy requests from individuals
  • Experience working in highly regulated organization with responsibility for designing and/or implementing data protection controls for personal information
  • Professional qualifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/EU 
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and operational impacts of global privacy regulations including: General Data Protection Regulation, California Consumer Privacy Act, The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses, processes and governance documentation
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and build teams
  • Understanding of privacy and cybersecurity legal and regulatory landscape and/or strong commitment and desire to learn more about these areas

EXPERIENCE

  • Privacy-specific operational experience, full time with organizations or functions focusing mainly on legal, privacy, regulatory operations or regulatory risk matters
