Manager, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice - Technology Transactions Group(LAW FIRM)

Our client, a large Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a Manager for their Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. This is a non-practicing-attorney manager role that will help lead client-facing engagements to deliver projects that satisfy client objectives within prescribed time frames and budgets (though the person in this role could have a JD). Must have experience with and/or knowledge of topics such as privacy regulations, privacy impact assessments, data inventory and mapping, incident response, risk and/or compliance assessments, policy and procedure development and program management. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and strategic thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills who can work across all levels of firm management. Responsibilities:

  • Conducting compliance and/or risk assessments against relevant laws and regulations, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Developing client programs, including the identification, development, and implementation of privacy and cybersecurity controls, and applying global compliance frameworks
  • Authoring or enhancing program documentation, such as policies, procedures, and standards
  • Supporting compliance with laws and regulations, as well as regulatory enforcement orders and coordinating complex projects comprised of multiple workstreams, activities, and deliverables
  • Develop and execute against complex project plans, including maintaining notes and managing timelines
  • Interface with clients to support or lead meetings, interviews, etc.
  • Manage project teams, support and mentor junior team members
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, reports, spreadsheets/matrices and other similar work products
  • Review and analyze applicable privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations
  • Draft proposals and support other business development efforts to win new projects
  • Author publications and other marketing collateral on team activities, industry trends, new laws and regulations and recent news

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Several years of professional experience in privacy and/or information security
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) – preferably with knowledge of advanced functions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding and experience with relevant privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA/HITECH, CCPA, EU-US Privacy Shield, and COPPA
  • Understanding and experience with relevant security frameworks such as ISO 27001/2, NIST, and MS-SDL
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of topics such as privacy impact assessments, data inventory and mapping, incident response, risk and/or compliance assessments, policy and procedure development and program management
  • Experience in a consulting or advisory capacity (external or internal)
  • Experience with government and/or regulatory agencies and related activities
  • CIPP/US, CISM, CISA, CISSP or similar privacy or security certifications a plus
