Our client, a global law firm, is in search of a highly-motivated, self-sufficient and detail-oriented leader to serve as the Director of Global Practice Services (GPS) and leader of the global e-Discovery program. As the leader of the GPS team, the Director will build consensus across the firm through supporting global litigation, regulatory, and investigations for the firm and its clients. Guided by department objectives and priorities, this candidate will be responsible for all aspects of managing and improving firm-wide litigation e-Discovery Resource Management systems and practices. The role will ensure client service and satisfaction is attained in all relevant areas of the position. A background supervising and leading e-discovery and litigation technology teams as well as hands on experience with e-discovery preservation, collection, processing, analyzing, and review technology is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with Relativity, Relativity processing, Brainspace, LAW, LiveNote, CaseMap, TimeMap, and SQL. A JD is preferred. Send resumes to [email protected]

JOB SUMMARY:

  • This position reports to the CIO. As the leader of the GPS team, this role will build consensus across the firm as you support global litigation, regulatory, and investigations for the firm and its clients; guided by department objectives and priorities, responsible for all aspects of managing and improving firm-wide litigation e-Discovery Resource Management systems and practices  
  • Provides effective leadership and guidance to the e-Discovery Resources Management team
  • Promotes department’s effectiveness, including assessing team and client needs; organizing and directing workflow; training, coaching and motivating team
  • Ensures client service and satisfaction is attained in all relevant areas of the position
  • This position is responsible for technology, strategies, and workflows related to data collection, processing, hosting, analyzing, and reviewing as well as leveraging AI and advanced analytics. As the Director of GPS, this role will develop innovative best practices for e-Discovery and information management technology
  • Acts as a liaison for e-discovery and litigation support operations between firm leadership, cross-functional partners, technical staff, vendors, consultants, and outside counsel litigation support personnel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Global eDiscovery Program and team of 15-20 Specialists & Analysts
  • Develops and implements strategic plans for providing effective case management services to the Firm’s clients; establishes best practices and roles for all phases of e-discovery including planning, budgeting, data management and reporting tools
  • Establishes and implements relevant technology to effectively support the litigation practice; recommends practices and systems that are consistent across offices and in line with the business goals of the Firm and e-discovery strategic plans
  • Manages internal infrastructure to support e-discovery (Relativity, Brainspace, Law, Harvester, etc.)
  • Interfaces with outside counsel firms and external service providers to streamline data collection/filtering/processing/hosting/reviewing/producing and maintain master repository of case related productions
  • Maintains appropriate chain of custody and other documentation throughout the lifecycle of matters in accordance with accepted protocols
  • Trains case teams on e-discovery tools and technology
  • Monitors and researches emerging e-discovery technology tools and processes in accordance with best practices
  • Provides technical and strategic e-discovery guidance to case teams, outside counsel, discovery stakeholders, and cross-functional partners
  • Oversees e-discovery technology vendors and tools
  • Manages confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity
  • Communicates, markets, and promotes use of litigation technology, GPS services and products supported by the Firm
  • Maintains firm established billable and realization rates

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred; BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Business, or another technical field preferred
  • Significant experience in an e-discovery/forensics role within corporate, law firm, government agency, consulting environment or leadership role
  • Experience supervising and leading e-discovery and litigation technology teams
  • Experience with e-discovery preservation, collection, processing, analyzing, and review technology
  • Experience working cross-functionally and experience communicating technical content to non-technical and non-legal audiences
  • Experience evaluating, contracting, and supervising e-discovery technology vendors
  • Experience with Relativity, Relativity processing, Brainspace, LAW, LiveNote, CaseMap, TimeMap, SQL
