Information Governance Consultant (CONSULTANCY)

Our client is seeking a Consultant for their Information Governance & Compliance Services team. The Consultant will support delivery of advisory in the IG&C space for corporations and government entities. The Consultant will lead time sensitive data mapping projects which may involve a combination of enterprise mapping tools, Excel, SQL, Access and Visio. Other responsibilities include developing business flows to capture the contextual flow of personal data, leading privacy impact assessments and data mapping engagements, developing mediation road maps, and developing technology blue prints, target operating models and data mapping documents. Requirements include experience in a client facing environment; knowledge of information security, risk management and corporate governance; and experience with GDPR, privacy or security related projects. Exposure to or use of tools such as OneTrust, Office365, IBM Atlas, Nuix, Exterro, StoredIQ, Tableau, SQL and Visio is a plus. Send resumes to [email protected].

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports delivery of advisory in the IG&C space for corporations and government entities
  • Leads time sensitive data mapping projects which may involve a combination of enterprise mapping tools, excel, SQL, access, Visio and other tools
  • Leads technical assessment, working with diverse client stakeholders to identify and document potential technical and security related control gaps 
  • Develops business flows that capture the contextual flow of personal data within and external to an organisation 
  • Leads Privacy Impact Assessments and data mapping engagements
  • Develops a remediation roadmap that outlines staffing, people and technology recommendations where appropriate 
  • Positions privacy and security requirements, risks and recommendations with other key IG stakeholders 
  • Supports business development opportunities
  • Develops technology blue prints, target operating models, and data mapping documents
  • Utilizes file analysis and structured data archiving tools to perform technical data assessments and perform remediation across diverse data sets (unstructured, structured, cloud, etc. ) as required to assist with compliance programmes
  • Must be client service-oriented to meet client deadlines, including working out of business hours when necessary
  • Handles day to day client engagement and follow up, interaction with other consultants, third party suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum BA/BSc degree or equivalent


Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication and client presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) 
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong technical expertise in dealing with data and data related tools with ability to quickly learn and operate new tools as required by client or project 
  • Ability to effectively engage clients, preferred experience in dealing with regulated industries such as financial services, insurance or life sciences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including an understanding of how to interpret business requirements and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Self-developer that demonstrates an ability to solve complex problems with well thought out innovative solutions
  • Ability to manage client relationships and provide superior client service in demanding, deadline-driven situations

Experience:

  • Some experience in a client facing, consultancy environment
  • Knowledge of information security, risk management and corporate governance
  • Client experience on GDPR, privacy or security related projects preferred
  • Experience (or at least knowledge) of other information-related frameworks, standards, codes and methodologies
  • Experience of handling Big Data and data mapping
  • Experience with machine learning methods
  • Business development experience and commercial awareness
  • Exposure or use with tools such as Onetrust, Office365, IBM Atlas, Nuix, Exterro, StoredIQ, Tableau, SQL and Visio
