Senior Associate, e-Discovery (CONSULTANCY)

Our client, a global consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Associate, aka e-Discovery Project Manager, to work in their Washington, D.C. office. The Senior Associate will consult with clients to define and execute their project plan. This will include leading and coordinating the delivery of collections, data analysis, data tracking, processing, review and document production strategy. As a member of the e-Discovery team, the Senior Associate will provide support and guidance to clients as a main point of contact, but also as part of a team supporting the project. This position supports the Managers and Associate Directors in the execution and delivery of all aspects of a project through completion. Successful candidates will work in a collaborative manner with internal resources, lead client communications, and demonstrate effective project management skills. Knowledge of Relativity is required, as well as project management experience in the legal or e-discovery industries including interaction with external clients. Essential Functions & Required Characteristics:

  • Serves as the primary leader on a team focused on consulting with clients, anticipating client needs and delivering the desired outcome for all stakeholders
  • Ensures client satisfaction through effective coordination and communication with the client
  • Engages the client and in proactive communications regarding all aspects of the project and when client issues arise, addresses those issues or expeditiously escalates internally
  • Prepares and/or works with other members of the team to maintain all appropriate project documentation, meet and document all project requirements (scope, deadlines, status reporting, project communications, client decisions, etc.)
  • Demonstrates leadership to both the client and internal partners, delivering project objectives professionally and error-free
  • Works at the direction of and in collaboration with the senior members of the team in order to complete project tasks as defined by the client and/or senior members
  • Provides project reporting and summaries, perform analysis of reporting, track client requests to completion, communication logs, project budget tracking, statistical reporting on client data
  • Uses of all internal tools and applications to direct project work requests
  • Performs tasks in Relativity as directed by the client or senior members of the team
  • Communicates clearly, effectively and timely with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of the EDRM, database design and management, data processing activities, legal document review requirements and data privacy
  • Development of project plans
  • Balance workloads with internal and external requests
  • Mentors and coaches junior members of the team, and delegates tasks appropriately
  • Supports clients and team members which may necessitate availability in early mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Manages multiple simultaneous projects
  • Handles additional special projects as assigned

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant legal or industry experience is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification required
  • Knowledge of and experience working in Relativity is required; RCA or other kCura certification preferred
  • Technical aptitude and financial acuity
  • Project management experience in the legal or e-discovery industries where this has involved interacting with external clients via email, phone and in-person
  • Ability to lead multiple projects, prioritize and carry out multiple tasks to meet deadlines; must have previous experience of following complex/detailed processes
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Use of strong independent judgment and decision-making skills to effectively and efficiently manage clients, projects, expectations and deliverables
  • Ability to work autonomously, take direction, and also to be effective within a team environment
  • Interpersonal skills to contribute to the building of relationships with clients and team members
  • Strong attention to detail
