Staff Attorney Supervisor (LAW FIRM)

Our client, one of the nation’s premier Am Law firms, is seeking to add a Staff Attorney Supervisor to its thriving Washington, D.C. e-discovery team. The successful applicant will have significant experience in complex e-discovery and team management. This attorney must be licensed to practice in Washington, D.C. and an RCA certification is very strongly preferred, as is experience working in a large organization. This position will train and supervise staff attorneys, as well as provide relief to the litigation support team by batching and creating tags when necessary. This is a sophisticated position requiring both substantive and technical knowledge. All attorneys applying should have demonstrated excellence in management, strong technical abilities including Relativity, and be comfortable communicating with all levels of professionals in the e-discovery process including contract attorneys, partners, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures the success of the Staff Attorney Program according to standard business metrics, such as utilization, client satisfaction, and quality of work product
  • Assigns projects to staff attorneys, assists with projects to ensure best practices are applied, and coordinates traditional and computer-aided workflows
  • Provides supervision and coordination of document review teams to ensure that all team members are working efficiently and meeting quality and productivity expectations of the case teams
  • Ensures the widespread application of metrics software tools to ensure the quality, consistency, supportability, and cost-effectiveness of the firm’s document review projects
  • Facilitates the communication between the document review team and the associates and partners responsible for case
  • Works with the firm’s litigation support group and/or e-discovery vendors to communicate and resolve end-user problems with the document databases and review systems in use
  • With the department Manager, maintains administrative records, such as attendance and vacation calendars for the department
  • Participates on active document review projects to review, analyze, and categorize documents and information in online-document review databases, and/or hard-copy document collections
  • Assists in preparation of privilege logs and other similar tasks attendant to document review and production projects
  • Performs other duties as directed by firm management


Qualifications

  • Significant discovery / investigation document review supervisory experience in an AMLAW 100 or 200 law firm, or a major vendor in the space
  • Discovery / investigation document review experience
  • Good standing in the D.C. Bar
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong service orientation
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, as well as Relativity and other current document review database software platforms; significant experience with TAR and CAL technologies, techniques, and workflows
  • Working knowledge of the contract attorney market and factors that affect contract attorney availability and performance quality and productivity
  • Ability to work under pressure and a willingness to work additional hours and help others with deadline intensive projects is required


Education

  • A JD from an accredited U.S. law school or the equivalent is required
