Senior Project Manager, e-Discovery (LAW FIRM)

Am Law Top 50 seeks a seasoned e-Discovery Project Manager to support one of their e-discovery practices. The Senior Project Manager will act as a subject matter expert in e-discovery with a specific focus on TAR/PC, large-scale document review, and advanced analytics. Must have experience with further left EDRM skills such as data mapping, consulting with corporate IT departments on data maps, creating TAR workflows, advising on 26f and 30b(6) meetings, and managing legal hold orders. The ideal candidate will be an attorney (though not required) or come from a consulting firm, have Recommind Axcelerate and/or Relativity experience, and be able to manage cases, vendors, and processes simultaneously. This is a non-exempt level position with paid overtime. Our client will consider a very strong document review manager with advanced analytics experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct interviews of corporate information technology representatives to identify potentially relevant data sources in connection with litigation and regulatory matters
  • Consult with clients’ information technology professionals to develop identification, collection, and preservation protocols
  • Assist in drafting preservation notices
  • Understand forensic imaging including needs assessment, and/or analysis of data
  • Prepare legal teams for 26(f) conferences
  • Consult with legal teams on the firm standard electronic data processing specifications
  • Consult with client employees to develop paper collection protocols
  • Assist legal team in consideration or selection of different review platforms and strategic/alternative review strategies, electronic data filtering/culling options, including but not limited to, de-duplication options, application of date ranges, key word term effectiveness, etc.
  • Develop budgets and cost estimates for legal teams and clients
  • Design and manage databases for document organization and review
  • Assist in the organization of and training of attorneys and staff on litigation support tools, including document management and review systems
  • Develop and maintain relationships with imaging, coding, printing and trial support vendors locally and remotely; evaluate and select vendors, procure pricing for projects, manage deadlines and perform quality reviews of vendors’ work product
  • Assist legal teams in development of electronic witness kits
  • Coordinate trial support including site surveys, creation of cost estimates/cost sharing considerations, technical set-up and support
  • Monitor and remain apprised of case law developments in electronic discovery and litigation technology
  • Assist PSG Managers and legal teams with client development projects and competitive intelligence
  • Assist PSG Managers in development and deployment of departmental policies and professional and resource development
  • Assist with professional development initiatives through presentation, participation and mentoring
  • Assist PSG Managers in development of continuing education programs for paralegals and attorneys, educate paralegals and attorneys, and increase departmental visibility among legal teams and clients
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for other project managers and project assistants in conjunction with the PSG Managers
  • Assist PM and PA staff in collaborative efforts with other PSG groups, including Database Analysts, Technical Services, Customer Care Center, and Training


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience with litigation support, electronic discovery and/or project management preferred
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Strong grasp and knowledge of legal practice support technology
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous projects with consistently high quality results
  • Willingness to provide after hours, overtime, and weekend support as scheduled or as necessary
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with appropriate supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, vendors, database analysts and other project managers
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under rigorous deadlines in high-pressure situations
