One of the Top 5 Am Law Litigation Support departments seeks a Senior e-Discovery Project Manager to run their D.C. office. Former big law firm experience highly desired. The Senior Project Manager will be running all the cases and developing relationships with local attorneys. This office is small (about 150 employees) but has a high-stakes, voluminous portfolio of clients. This role will work intimately with the firm’s HQ for ESI where most of the processing, hosting, and production occurs. Ability to manage cases, delegate to vendors, quality control deliverables, and serve as a consultant in-house is required. Job Description:
The e-Discovery Project Manager - DC (EDPM) is responsible for managing multiple projects through the electronic discovery lifecycle. The EDPM will work with case teams on all aspects of the e-discovery process, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).

  • Working alongside case teams to manage and plan e-discovery projects, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of ESI and paper documents.  Specific duties include:
  • Preparing recommendations, budgets, and project plans
  • Communicating with case teams and management on project status, including ESI management issues. budget status, and production planning
  • Coordinating production of ESI to outside parties
  • Tracking ESI that is received, loaded, and produced
  • Ensuring quality of imported and exported ESI
  • Maintaining and supporting use of e-discovery and case management systems
  • Consulting with case teams regarding best practices for electronic discovery, and implementing those best practices, including:
  • Employing standard workflows for all aspects of the e-discovery process and customizing those workflows as necessary given the unique requirements of each case
  • Advising on current practices in light of case law and rulemaking and how to apply those practices to each case
  • Assisting lawyers with Rule 26(f) conferences and other "meet and confers"
  • Working with lawyers and clients to identify potentially relevant data through client IT and custodian interviews
  • Coordinating work of outside e-discovery vendors, including:
  • Advising and recommending vendor selection and coordinating vendor contact and relations
  • Initiating, negotiating, overseeing, and coordinating vendor work
  • Maintaining detailed familiarity with vendor platforms and providing support to case teams utilizing those platforms
  • Working with department management to identify and implement process, reporting, and documentation enhancements to improve service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Documenting project details in the applicable tracking systems
  • Preparing and handling media
  • Thorough knowledge of the e-discovery process, including evolving standards created through case law, rules, and industry trends, and of e-discovery/litigation support services and technologies
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation
  • Skilled at meeting strict deadlines under significant time constraints

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Juris Doctor and litigation practice experience helpful
  • At least four years’ experience with managing e-discovery projects
  • Extensive experience with software and hardware used in e-discovery; specific experience with Relativity is helpful
  • On site during normal working hours and available off-hours when necessary; a flexible schedule is required
  • Ability to engage in off-site travel as required to meet job demands and firm needs
  • Required to monitor and respond to email and phone calls after hours and weekends
