Top 10 consulting firm seeks a former or current Am Law Litigation Support Manager or Director who has or is looking to transition to the consulting environment. This role would be for someone who has experience onboarding managed service contracts to law firms for e-discovery. This role would also require consulting to corporate legal departments about legal and technical operations. Ideal candidate will come on contract-to-hire, but client is open to direct hires with precise experience. No sales involved. Heavy vendor management and managing up to partners at law firms. Travel 25-70% depending on client and needs. Ideally based in New York or Chicago, but open to a remote hire who is a perfect fit. Consultancy is seeking a Manager for its Law Department Consulting Practice. Specifically, we are seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual to assist our corporate legal department and law firm clients in developing and implementing an appropriate strategy to address e-discovery needs. We deliver a full range of advisory services – including strategy and planning, process and operational management, systems and technology, and benchmarking and data analytics in order to develop a sustainable e-discovery strategy and practice. The focus of these engagements encompass information gathering, business process redesign, workflow design, team composition, assisting with the selection of service providers and systems, design, testing, and implementation in the area of electronic discovery. This individual will also provide benchmarking and best practices expertise to our clients by analyzing clients’ e-discovery team structure, technology and processes with peer companies and firms to devise industry best practices. This Manager role will provide leadership on client engagements and is responsible for maintaining day-to-day client interactions, delivering high quality client deliverables, project management, budget management and supervising and developing junior staff. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with client personnel to structure a mutually agreed upon project plan 
  • Identifies cost saving opportunities and process efficiencies 
  • Serve as the day-to-day leader on engagements, including developing team members 
  • Work closely with team members and client personnel to review findings and help support implementation of recommendations 
  • Support internal practice initiatives such as developing new revenue channels, contributing to other internal practice initiatives, proposals, recruiting, and external marketing efforts and thought leadership 
  • Demonstrate industry/practice expertise and consulting capabilities  
  • Design and implement proven solutions for recognized problems 
  • Understand and speak to the capabilities of consulting firm including key products and service offerings 

Qualifications 

  • BA, BBA or BS in Business, Computer Science
  • MIS preferred 
  • MBA or JD preferred, but not required
  • 5-8 years' experience in a combination of the following:  Big 4 or similar consulting environment; Knowledge of a variety of law department and law firm e-discovery systems; Law department or law firm e-discovery operations; Systems implementation focused on process improvement; Systems selection; Outside counsel management of e-discovery; Benchmarking, data analysis and data mining; Legal resource optimization 
  • Requires 50-70% travel
